Marled Cardigan

For this cardigan, I used two strands of ITO Kinu which is a 100% organic silk, made from the remnants of spun filament silk.

The silk is in its raw form, slightly coarse, with very thin threads that blend various colors, creating a slightly mottled yarn. It is lightweight and not particularly easy to work with using a single thread. However, when two threads are joined, they glide more smoothly on the needles.

I combined the colors Caravan and Brick.

The marled effect created by combining these two colors is mesmerizing and adds depth and interest to the fabric.

The cardigan is made from the top down with a rounded yoke. Beginning at the neck in Brick color, I used a 3.50 mm needle for the seed stitch. Transitioning to 4.50 mm needles, I incorporated a few rounds of short rows to elevate the back of the neck. Progressing with increases, I worked until I reached the chest before dividing the body from the sleeves.
