I adore knitting books filled with patterns, and my extensive library is a testament to that. One of my top picks is “Textured Knits” by Paula Pereira, featured in Laine’s collection. The book boasts an array of stunning patterns.
My latest project, the Cestaria cardigan, marks the third creation from this book. It was my go-to winter project for 2024. Opting for a combination of Lana Aquilana’s 100% wool and Lollocrea’s Soflino, a blend of mohair, linen, and viscose, I embarked on this knitting journey.
While I achieved the gauge using a 4.5mm needle, the outcome was not entirely satisfying due to the dense fabric resulting in a velvety texture.
I decided not to knit the pockets but now I regret not doing so. Perhaps it was the allure of finishing the project sooner or the temporary lapse in envisioning the final, functional piece. However, I realized that pockets could have enhanced both the utility and charm of the cardigan.
Silly me for not sticking to the pattern.
The intricate texture of the front panels captivates me. I typically knit cables without a cable needle, a technique that seamlessly maintains my knitting flow.
It eliminates the need to constantly pause and search for a cable needle and the fluidity of knitting without a cable needle enhances the overall experience.
Overall, this may not rank as one of my finest knitting projects, yet acknowledging imperfections is a crucial aspect of my creative evolution.
